Addison Vallier

Undergraduate Research Assistant

I am a freshman studying History with a concentration in Public History. Before becoming an undergraduate research assistant, my professional experience included a year-long internship for the Clay County Historical Society & Museum. At the museum, I designed displays, learned historical clothing identification & preservation, did community programming, and managed the museum’s archives. Over the summer of 2023 I worked as a Historic Interpreter at Watkins Mill State Park in Lawson, Missouri. That same summer, I performed legal research as an assistant to Graham Law Group in Liberty Missouri. I have also done historical research & interpretation for the historic African-American Garrison School and the Corbin Mill Properties in Liberty, Missouri. I have done archival research at the Clay County Museum, the Clay County Archives, the Missouri State Historical Society, The University of Syracuse, and the Truman Library & Museum.
In addition to my studies in Public History, I am passionate about peace & environmental action, which is why I work as an employee of Mid-Missouri Peaceworks in Columbia, Missouri. Through Peaceworks, I have been involved in local efforts to promote a more sustainable and just future. I am interested in the way history intersects with physical place, both in artifacts as well as in our natural environment. In the future, I aim to work either in the museum field or as a historian with state & national parks.
